Tessa Meadows-Smith

Founding Partner

Tessa founded RMS Recruitment with Kate Rawlings in 2000 after they had met and worked together at a large secretarial recruitment agency in 1990. They set up RMS with a shared vision of focussing on candidate care and delivering a more bespoke service to their clients. The success of RMS comes from its simple philosophy which puts candidates' and clients' interests above their own. Tessa developed a unique six-month guarantee and sole agency offering that resulted in time efficiency for the team and substantial cost savings for clients. With a background as an Executive PA and Finance Manager together with a love of support staff recruitment and running her own business, Tessa has built a reputation for providing top quality and cost-effective solutions for top-tier businesses.

Kate Rawlings

Founding Partner

Kate worked for 10 years in recruitment before partnering with Tessa to set up RMS with the vision to provide the best shortlists for support staff in London.  The skills, trust, experience and connections built over the years was the foundation for the rapid success that RMS is today.  Kate’s quintessential charm and natural ability in understanding clients’ needs and spotting talented candidates has been the foundation for the team’s success.  Her genuine interest in people and her understanding of how work and home lives intertwine is one of the reasons she is loved by both her candidates and clients.

Lucy Strachan

Managing Consultant

Joined: May, 2017

Having worked on both the temp and permanent teams since 2017, Lucy was promoted to Managing Consultant in 2023 and is now responsible for overseeing the team and operations.  Prior to joining RMS, Lucy graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MA in History of Art starting her career in London as a Financial Planning Assistant dealing with high profile clients, enjoying the structure and new skills the role provided.

She then moved to a Business Psychology Consultancy, starting as a Personal Assistant and Project Manager in their London headquarters, before being selected for a six month secondment to their Sydney office as a Client Manager. This experience allowed her to fully immerse herself in a new working culture, gaining experience with clients across the globe as well as assisting with their internal recruitment. Lucy’s three years in this role gave her the experience and understanding of building client relationships through quality service. Lucy has now found the perfect combination of satisfying her fascination with what makes people tick and working closely with clients to find a perfect match.

Emily Verschoyle

Senior Permanent Consultant

Joined: April, 2021

Emily has an extraordinary talent for multi-tasking and filling jobs seemingly effortlessly.  She graduated in 2018 from the University of Bristol with a 2.1 in History of Art, with a specialist focus on Papal Art and Architecture. Although she loved the art world, she was keen to work in a more people focussed job. She started her career as PA / Team Assistant to the CEO of a support staff recruitment company, providing business and personal support where she learned the fundamentals of recruitment, moving to support the temp team with admin and filling bookings.

Emily then moved to a search and selection consultancy working as a researcher but missed the excitement of working on her own roles and getting to know her candidates personally.  She registered with RMS in 2021 to help her find a new role and fell in love with the team dynamic and focus on candidate care and instinctively knew this was where she wanted to work. Emily has found her “home” at RMS and has already been promoted to Senior Consultant through her success with client and candidate recommendations.

Iona Woods

Senior Permanent Consultant

Joined: October, 2021

Iona joined RMS as a Senior Permanent Consultant with four years’ experience working in a high pressure secretarial recruitment agency. She graduated with a 2.1 in Classical Studies from Bristol University and initially moved into an Events position within lifestyle PR. She thrived in this fast-paced, ever changing environment and took on the responsibility of solely managing a premium client.

She was producing events, dealing with all of the suppliers and looking after VIP celebrity ambassadors. She loved this role, but after 3 years felt that she was no longer learning and so took 6 months out to go travelling before starting her first role in recruitment in 2017. Here, Iona was placing candidates in business support roles across all industries in both London and Europe, and whilst she loved the client facing nature of the role she moved to RMS to have a more focussed approach on a long term fit. Iona’s commitment to taking care of the needs of her candidates and providing advice and knowledge of the market to her clients makes her a great fit for the RMS ethos.

Freya Stern

Permanent Consultant

Joined: August, 2021

Freya has already built up a fantastic reputation with her candidates and clients starting her recruitment career with RMS in 2021 and has already passed her recruitment exams with merit. Having graduated with a 2.1 in Theatre Production in lockdown in 2020 where she was accustomed to 10-hour days on set, she was keen to throw herself into work by quickly securing a role working for the NHS as a Medical Secretary at a surgery with over 25,000 patients. This set the bar for working in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.

Her next full-time role was as PA to a Head teacher at a busy co-ed secondary school in East London where she was responsible for complex diary management, booking travel and working with HR to recruit staff. Freya helped RMS out on a contract basis when they were extremely busy with a flood of new jobs after lockdown and was delighted to join the RMS team on a permanent basis having discovered her natural talent for the role. She loves finding candidates their dream jobs and has received the most glowing reviews from her clients and candidates who love the insight and support she offers and her determination to find a perfect match.

Flo Shuttleworth

Permanent Consultant

Joined: June, 2022

Flo was trained as a PA, having completed the Professional Business Diploma at Oxford Media and Business School in 2013 and placed by RMS in her first role as a PA, working for one of their long-standing clients in London. This was her first taste of a support role and she flourished at the daily challenges, however after 2.5 happy years she decided to make the leap and move to Australia to work and travel.  On her return, she worked for 18 months as a Temps consultant at a leading secretarial agency but found the high pressure sales was not for her and moved to a PA role in finance where she looked after the MD and Director. However, missing the pace of recruitment she went back to RMS who she had worked with as a candidate to take over the growing Temp desk and built this up by finding perfect fit temps who often were taken on permanently.  Flo decided that she really enjoyed the complexities of shortlisting permanent roles and moved across managing high profile financial services clients who now use her exclusively. Flo is a great ambassador of EAs who she believes are the lynchpin to companies and will go above and beyond to place them in the right home.

Hayley Dalton

Temporary & Contract Consultant

Joined: January, 2023

After completing a Marketing Degree at the University of Brighton in 2012, Hayley was placed by RMS in one of her first roles as a Receptionist for one of their Financial PR clients. Here she thrived and learnt several invaluable skills that lead her to take the leap to become a Personal Assistant and go on to support several senior members of staff, both the COO and Managing Director at a top digital marketing company in the West End.

Hayley was intrigued by the world of recruitment having heard about it from family members who also work in this sector and joined one of the biggest Java recruitment teams in the UK. She spent 8 months learning core skills, however the sector was not quite right for her bubbly, outgoing personality. She was recommended to RMS by one of the team and decided to transfer her skills using the combination of her PA and recruitment experience and character.  Hayley has built a great temp team with Amelia and has converted many temps into permanent roles by getting a perfect match.   She has also grown the Contracts side of the business and looks after maternity and shorter term contracts for a wide range of clients.  Hayley has a great skill with LinkedIn and has managed to place some extremely quirky roles for her clients by spotting talent from a diverse pool.

Amelia Walker

Temporary & Contract Consultant

Joined: January, 2023

Prior to her recruitment career, Amelia graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 with an MA 2.1 in Art History. She was quickly placed by RMS in her first role as Receptionist / Office Coordinator at one of the leading luxury superyacht brokerages; a long-standing client of RMS. Here she developed strong communication and administrative skills dealing with hectic diaries, office management and UHNW clients. In addition, she became a freelance content writer and assisted the marketing department writing yacht descriptions for the website and supporting the Brand Manager posting content. After a fantastic 18 Months, Amelia was ready for a new challenge in a people focussed role and when she contacted RMS to find her next position, she was delighted to explore the opportunity of working with the RMS team.  She has been a huge success with her clients, converting many temp positions into permanent contracts and taking care of her clients’ contract needs.  Amelia works at speed and can fill a booking in record time by having a great relationship with her temps and a bank of clients that trust her to find a spot on temp to fill their role.

Lowri Jones

Lowri Jones

Operations Coordinator

As Operations Coordinator, Lowri supports both the permanent and temporary teams at RMS.

While studying Geography at the University of Bristol, Lowri held various leadership roles, including serving as President of the university’s Touch Rugby Club and organising the Geography department’s annual ball. In these positions she managed budgets, advocated for fellow students and boosted team morale.

After moving to London in 2021, Lowri entered the world of corporate events and high-net-worth client management at a private Mayfair Business House. Her multifaceted role not only encompassed managing events and marketing campaigns but also internal recruitment and hiring temporary events staff.

Lowri’s dedication to delivering exceptional client experiences led her to her next role at an emerging Padel tennis startup. She enjoyed the dynamic culture, daily challenges and opportunities to propose new ideas however, she was ready to take on her first role in recruitment.  Lowri is excited to help build the RMS brand and enhance the level of service to clients and candidates.
